Biography

Kenneth Guappone, MD is a PhD candidate in OHSU's Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology. His area of interest is Computerized Provider Order Entry, Human-Computer Interaction and understanding the reasons for provider resistance to the adoption of clinical information technology. His focus is primarily on qualitative research and how that can be applied to the above with the goal of advising software development and end-user training. Ken has been working with Joan Ash and Dean Sittig since 2003 doing research with the internationally known Physician Order Entry Team (POET). He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and worked in private practice in the Portland metropolitan area for 17 years. He received his medical degree from Ohio State and his bachelor's from Youngstown State University.
