Prior to graduate school, Jennie worked for several years in graduate and undergraduate reference and information services at Cornell University Libraries, where she discovered a joy of connecting people with the health information they seek to live and improve their lives. Jennie’s research and teaching interests include consumer health informatics, research design and evaluation, and health information behavior (social and cognitive aspects of how people need, seek, use, and share health information). Jennie is particularly interested in applying information behavior research to information and communication technology (ICT) design to reduce domestic and international health disparities. Her current work focuses on leveraging the potential of lay information mediaries (those who seek information on behalf or because of others) and ICTs to improve individual and community health.
