Biography

Christopher J. Dubay, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the DMICE at OHSU. Dr. Dubay earned a B.S. in Biochemistry at the University of Oregon. After graduating, he worked for 7 years as an application analyst, database and networking technical specialist, and UNIX consultant. He then began his doctoral work in Medical Genetics at OHSU, where he earned his Ph.D. Dr. Dubay worked at the CEPH Institute and Genethon in Paris, France, before becoming a Senior Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Wellcome Human Genetics Center at the Institute of Molecular Medicine at the University of Oxford.

In 1994, Dr. Dubay came from Oxford to OHSU as an NLM Fellow. Upon completing his fellowship, he became an Assistant Professor in the Medical Informatics M.S. Program at OHSU with a joint appointment in the Department of Medical Molecular Genetics. At OHSU, he teaches courses in Bioinformatics, and has coordinated bioinformatics activities for the Portland Alcohol Research Center. He has also been supported by the National Human Genome Research Institute at the NIH to provide and implement Genetic Information Management Systems for their intramural use. Currently, he is working with research groups at OHSU and the Oregon National Primate Research Center to manage large experimental data sets (e.g. gene expression and proteomics data) and correlate genotypes with phenotypes to help understand complex genetic disease.
