Academics: Course Evaluation Tool

 

Introduction

The OHSU Course Evaluation Tool has been created to allow increased access to the course evaluations that are a required part of the School of Medicine curriculum. Because the tool is available via the Internet, students can fill out, save and submit their evaluations anytime, from anywhere they have a computer with an Internet connection.

Logging In

To log in to the Course Evaluation tool enter your last name and student ID number (which is the last four digits of your Social Security Number).

If you are experiencing difficulty logging in, please contact the program administrator at 503.494.2547. The program administrator can insure you have the correct, up-to-date information and can help troubleshoot any problems.

Welcome Menu/Course List

When you log in successfully, you are sent directly to your Welcome Menu. Here you should have links to the course evaluations of all courses you are enrolled in (with the exception of some 50X courses). If you are in a course that does not show up on your Welcome Menu, please contact the program administrator (503.494.2547) to confirm your registration.

Evaluation Index Page

Clicking on a course name link from your Welcome Menu will bring you to that course's Evaluation Index page. There you will see the details of that course including relevant dates and instructors, as well as the question groups for that course and the submit button for the final submission of your evaluation.

Evaluation Question Groups

All evaluation questions are organized into groups. Those groups are listed as links on the evaluation link page. To find the actual questions and complete your evaluation, simply click on any group link. As you complete the questions in each group, the index page will display a completed percentage for each question group.

Required Questions

The first 20 questions of each course's evaluation are required. The evaluation cannot be submitted without completing the required questions. Look for each of the first 3 question groups displaying 100% completion before trying to submit.

Saving an Evaluation

You do not have to complete your entire evaluation at one time. At the bottom of each question group page, there is a "SAVE" button. Clicking this button will save any changes you have made to the question group without submitting the evaluation. You can return to any saved, but not submitted, question group at any time to make changes or change responses. The results of your evaluation will not be tallied until you have submitted the evaluation. You must remember to click the save button in order to save any changes you have made, answering questions and then clicking the back button or leaving the site will not save your responses.

Submitting an Evaluation

Once you have completed your evaluation and saved all the answers in each question group, you are ready to submit the evaluation. The Submit button is time-coded to appear at a specified date toward the end of each course, usually during the last week or two of the term.

There is no way to complete an evaluation prior to the appearance of the Submit button; however, you can work on your evaluation throughout the term by using the Save button to save your responses until the Submit button appears.

Once you have submitted an evaluation, you will not be able to make any changes. The course title will remain on your Welcome Page, but will no longer be linked to the evaluation, and instead will be marked Completed. If you accidentally submit your evaluation before it is completed, please contact the program administrator at 503.494.2547.
