5th Annual Hills for Humanity 4 Mile Fun Run and Hike

Date: April 11, 2009

The 5th annual Hills for Humanity Fun Run and Hike will followed a 4-mile loop through the beautiful Marquam Nature Park trails from OHSU up to the top of Council Crest. Click here for route map.

Hills for Humanity is a charitable event presented by the OHSU chapter of the Student National Medical Association. The mission of Hills for Humanity is raising funds for safety net clinics in the Portland area. The race also raises awareness of the healthcare needs in the community.  It serves to connect the OHSU student community with the greater Portland community.

In 2009, Hills for Humanity raised $1,500 to benefit the Garlington Behavioral Healthcare Clinic.  Garlington serves over 500 people seeking help with mental health and drug and alcohol abuse issues.  This clinic and those it serves  faced additional obstacles in 2008 - 2009, including financial difficulties and fire damage.  Through both, the clinic has continued services to patients and has rallied the support of the community.

Hills for Humanity hopes to raise awareness of the clinic’s helping presence as well as the need for support of the clinic to continue its work.  In previous years, Hills for Humanity has donated to North by Northeast Community Clinic, Mariah Taylor Clinic and the Southwest Community Clinic.

Thank you to all the participants and volunteers over the past five years!

Many thanks to our sponsors. Those in bold have provided support for two years or more.
