I have applied to another OHSU program. Is this program related?
Is it possible for me to take other courses during the summer program?
-
Summer Equity Research scholars are in the laboratory full time, roughly 8 – 5 every weekday. In addition, you will be asked to prepare a presentation of your research project and may be asked to attend other seminars. Therefore, it is not advisable that you add other coursework during the duration of the program.
Can I choose my mentor?
-
We strive to match scholars and mentors based on research interests, however not all OHSU researchers are available to serve as mentors during any given summer. Therefore, you cannot choose your mentor.
Where will I be doing my research?
How much is the stipend?
I don’t live in Portland. Is housing available?
I am a Senior and will be graduating within the year. What research opportunities can you suggest for me?
-
Research experience is invaluable if you plan to apply to a graduate program. We recommend that you check the OHSU employment website for research assistant positions. You can also download a list of other educational opportunities here.
What is the best way to get to campus?
-
Not only is parking is at a premium at OHSU, it is costly ($10 per day when available.) Most employees take public transportation to work. Your stipend will be sufficient for you to purchase bus passes on Tri-Met (the local bus system) that will allow you to travel to campus as well as around the Portland metro area
