- Can someone from my background gain acceptance to medical school?
- How early do I need to start preparing?
- What is the ideal major for getting into medical school?
- How do I know that medicine is the right career for me?
With support from The Spirit Mountain Community Fund, the School of Medicine’s Diversity Affairs office works to support rural, disadvantaged and underrepresented minority students in gaining entrance to medical school.
We will offer a series of workshops designed to answer the above questions and to address the barriers that sometimes hinder the competitive profiles of disadvantaged applicants.
Keynote speakers and breakout sessions will offer tools to help participants better prepare for careers in the health sciences. Objectives include creating a plan for the undergraduate years, learning what medical schools look for in an applicant, discussing contemporary issues in health care, and connecting heath professions students, health professionals and faculty from OHSU.
