Our Programs

The Graduate Programs in Human Nutrition offer a number of graduate study options.  Among these are the Dietetic Internship (DI; 10 month graduate certificate program) and the combined DI/Masters Program (DI/MS; minimum of 2 years, thesis-based program).  The DI program strikes a balance between practical experiences and didactic learning, offering 36 graduate credits.  The dietetic internship program places interns throughout Oregon and SW Washington for supervised practice, giving interns the opportunity to experience nutrition care in both urban and rural settings.

Typically students in the combined DI/MS program complete internship rotations primarily at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center during their first year.  During the second year of the program students concentrate on their thesis projects, as well as taking graduate courses in biostatistics, physiology, medical ethics, the nutrition-focused physical exam and advanced metabolism of macro and micronutrients.

In addition, we offer a thesis-based Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and a non-thesis-based Masters in Clinical Dietetics.  These options are available to registered dietitians who qualify for admission into the OHSU Graduate Programs in Human Nutrition and are interested in acquiring more knowledge in human nutrition and related coursework, as well as gaining more in-depth research experience.

OHSU is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution.
