Our Programs - Coordinated Masters
Combined DI/Masters - Program Mission & Goals

The Mission of the Combined DI/Masters track is to prepare Entry Level Dietetic Practitioners who demonstrate positive personal and professional characteristics, who choose to practice in the state and region, and who are prepared to function in the ever-changing scientific and professional environment.

Program Goals and Outcome Measures:

o       Goal I Provide both general and unique emphases in experiential education to qualified graduates of accredited Didactic Programs in Dietetics and thus provide eligibility for credentialing as a Registered Dietitian and a route to an advanced degree in clinical nutrition.

         Outcome Measures

·      90% of interns will complete all program requirements within 15 months for those enrolled in the DI program, and within 36 months for those enrolled in the combined MS/DI program

·         95% of graduates will become registered within 2 years of graduation

·         90% of graduates will pass the CDR examination on initial attempt

·       10% of graduates will obtain an advanced degree within 10 years of graduation

 

o       Goal 2 Develop measurable professional skills and characteristics in graduates.

         Outcome Measures

·        100% of interns will obtain a minimum score of 3 on all sections of the Professional Checklist by the end of the DI

·      100% of interns will obtain a minimum score of 3 on all sections of professional characteristics from responding employer follow-up surveys

·     50% of graduates will report participation in professional activities on follow-up surveys within 5 years of graduation

·     95% of graduates will maintain membership in ADA

 

o       Goal 3 Prepare graduates who choose to work in Oregon and the Northwest region of the U.S.

         Outcome Measures

·      25% of interns admitted will be graduates of OSU or the Northwestern U.S.

·        50% of graduates will practice in the state or Northwestern U.S.

 

o       Goal 4 Prepare graduates for entry-level general dietetic practice and specialty practice and for adaptability in the profession.

         Outcome Measures 

·         80% of graduates will obtain employment in dietetics upon graduation

·         90% of graduates will report on follow-up surveys that they have participated in continuing education

·      50% of graduates will report on follow-up surveys that they have advanced in practice or obtained leadership positions within 10 years of graduation

 

Student Learning Outcomes  (DI and combined DI/Masters)

 

·     Students will be able to apply the nutrition care process and standardized language in practice for individuals across the lifespan, from diverse cultures and for various health conditions

 

·         Students will develop management skills and   demonstrate application of these skills across dietetic practice domains, including clinical,  community and foodservice settings

 

·         Students will be able to critically evaluate and interpret research relevant to dietetics practice

 

·     Students will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively across dietetic practice domains, including clinical, community and foodservice settings

 

·      Students will demonstrate professional characteristics that reflect positively on the practice of dietetics

 

 

Additional Student Learning Outcomes (all Master’s options including combined DI/Masters)

 

·      Students will demonstrate the ability to develop, propose and conduct nutrition-based research

 

·     Students will disseminate the results of their research through presentation (oral and/or poster) at local, state or regional meetings; and/or publication of an abstract or manuscript
