Posted Apr 14, 2009
The work of Erick H. Turner, MD, and colleagues was ranked tenth for Red Hot Research Papers of 2008. This ranking is an indicator of the influence of the research based on the number of times the article is cited by other journal articles. The research, originally published in the January 17, 2008 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, demonstrated that the selective publication in reporting results of antidepressant trials exaggerates the effectiveness of the drugs. Dr. Turner is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Physiology & Pharmacology and Medical Director of the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center’s Mood Disorders Program.
