School of Medicine Strategic Planning

Mission-based strategic planning is vital to shaping the future of the OHSU School of Medicine. In 2007, the university embarked on an ambitious strategic planning process. The School of Medicine was an integral part of this strategic planning process. The result was Vision 2020 - a strategic plan that sets a unifying vision for OHSU in the year 2020. The vision statement for this plan is:

OHSU will partner to make Oregon a national leader in health and science innovation for the purpose of improving the health and well-being of all Oregonians.

As part of this plan, OHSU developed tactics and goals for units within the University, including the School of Medicine, and endorsed a Five-Year Financial Plan. For more information on this process, please see thePresident's Web pageon strategic planning.

The School of Medicine is currently focused on developing plans that are responsive to Vision 2020 goals. The Office of the Dean has identified responsive plans, and has also established and charged a series of faculty committees to develop additional initiativesto meet Vision 2020 goals. Unlike past planning processes, the School is not seeking to develop a written documentbut rather to develop an evolving series offaculty-driven initiatives. As we make progress in meeting thegoals identified in this faculty process, new faculty committees will be charged to continue moving us toward Vision 2020.

This Web page provides access to relevant data and documents, including historical information that provides a meaningful context for understanding strategic planning for the School of Medicine.
