Following a year-long search that included interviewing some of the top evidenced-based researchers in America, Richard A. Deyo, MD, MPH has been selected as OHSU Adjunct Professor and the Kaiser-Permanente Endowed Professor in Evidence-Based Medicine, OHSU Department of Family Medicine.
Dr. Deyo is a 1971 graduate of Grinnell College. He received his MD degree at Pennsylvania State University, and his MPH degree at the University of Washington. He has been a member of the U.W. faculty since 1986 and is affiliated with the Health and Policy Research Track (MPH program). He is a general internist who is jointly appointed in Medicine and Health Services at U.W, and remains active in clinical teaching and practice.
He is Co-director of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program and also the UW Center for Cost and Outcomes Research. His research interests are in the measurement of health status and other outcomes, management of back disorders, and appropriate use of medical technology. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and he recently co-edited a book on Evidence-Based Clinical Practice.
Dr. Deyo joined the faculty on October 1, 2007.
