In reviewing candidates, the Admissions Committee evaluates a number of factors including undergraduate academic record, research experience and GRE scores. Letters of reference from individuals who can address the applicant’s potential for research and graduate studies often play and important role in the admissions process. The applicant’s personal statement is also important and care should be used in preparing the statement. A discussion of research experience and scientific interests are recommended.
Selected applicants will be invited to Oregon Health & Science University for an interview during the months of February or March. The interview process involves meetings with faculty and current graduate students and provides an opportunity to learn about the program, the campus and the city of Portland. Arrangements can be made for students to meet with specific faculty during the visit.
