As a third and fourth year medical student, or possibly earlier for certain preceptorships, you will need access to the following computer/information systems:
Most students receive VA access during their second year just prior to the Transition to Clerkship course. Please note that you MUST login to the VA system every thirty days or your access may be affected. Please follow the steps below to regain access.
OVER 90 DAYS WITH NO LOGIN - Contact the VA Computer Help Desk at at 503-220-8262, follow the prompts and then enter their extension, 5-5909 (095-5-5909 on the OHSU campus, x55909 at the VA) and ask that your account be reactivated. This may take up to 24 hours.
OVER 180 DAYS WITH NO LOGIN - After 180 days, you are completely voided from the VA system. You will need to complete the following steps in order:
Complete a new set of VA access forms. (obtain from the SOM Education & Student Affairs Office, 4-8228)
Complete the VA fingerprinting process again. Contact Marlene Jamieson at 503-220-8262, follow the prompts and then enter her extension, 5-4747 (095-5-4747 on the OHSU campus, x54747 at the VA) or marlene.jamieson@va.gov to make a fingerprinting appointment.
Retake all required computer classes. Contact the VA Computer Help Desk at 503-220-8262, follow the prompts and then enter their extension, 5-5909 (095-5-5909 on the OHSU campus, x55909 at the VA).
There is no way to avoid this process UNLESS you login to the system regularly and keep your access current.
Most students receive PACS access during their second year just prior to the Transition to Clerkship course. For access, you must obtain proper authorization and complete an online training course.
If you have NOT already received PACS access and need it, please contact Marcia DeCaro at 4-4101. After she has granted you access (you will receive a generic email listing your login and password information), please visit the following website to complete the online training:

If you have NOT already received LCR access and need it, please contact Marcia DeCaro at 4-4101. After she has granted you access (you will receive a generic email listing your login and password information), please visit the following website to register for the class (class name is “Clin Apps: LCRWeb”):
For access, you must obtain proper authorization and complete two in-person computer training courses (EpicCare Basic – EC1, and EpicCare Intermediate for Providers – EC9). EpicCare Basic (EC1) is 4 hours long, and EpicCare Intermediate for Providers (EC9) is 2 hours long. You MUST complete the “Basic” training before the “Intermediate” training.
