Graduate medical education is one of the central missions of Oregon Health & Science University, and we offer training in virtually all fields of medicine. OHSU and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) are the major clinical teaching facilities for both undergraduate and graduate medical education. The patient care and teaching programs at the university and the VAMC are under the direction and supervision of OHSU faculty. Residents/fellows participate in the care of patients in these hospitals and gain additional experience in community hospitals, which have affiliated teaching programs under the direction of the OHSU School of Medicine.

The Office of Graduate Medical Education coordinates resident/fellow appointments and assignments. The office also assists in assuring excellence in the training programs and in serving prospective, current, and past residents/fellows.

All graduate medical education programs offered by OHSU are approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or other accrediting bodies or boards specific to the respective programs. The ACGME webpage is www.acgme.org.
