OHSU Celebrates Peter O. Kohler Pavilion Opening
WHEN: Sunday, June 4, from 1 to 4 p.m.
WHAT: Oregon Health & Science University invites the public to help celebrate the opening of its new hospital expansion, the Peter O.Kohler Pavilion, which includes a premier Center for Women's Health,eight of the most technologically advanced surgical suites on the West Coast, and the atrium for the Portland Aerial Tram.
The celebration will include a live jazz band; time-elapsed videos of the building and tram construction; animated video of a tram ride;children's activities, including face painting and balloon art; various health services informational displays; self-guided walking tours;wellness screenings; staff to answer questions about the building and its many amenities; and refreshments.
WHERE: OHSU Peter O. Kohler Pavilion, Marquam Hill Campus, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road
DETAILS: Building tours will begin and activities will take place at the entrance to the Kohler Pavilion lobby (enter via S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road or S.W. Campus Drive). Included on tour are the Center for Women's Health and Imaging Center (seventh floor), Portland Aerial Tram atrium and terrace (ninth floor), state-of-the-art operating suites (sixth floor), and specially designed inpatient units (10th, 11th and 12th floors).
In March, the OHSU board of directors honored OHSU President Peter O. Kohler, M.D., for his longtime commitment and service to the university by naming the hospital expansion the Peter O.Kohler Pavilion. OHSU policy requires that the board of directors find unusually meritorious reasons to name one of the university's buildings after a living person.
Oregon Health & Science University Center for Women's Health week
WHEN: June 26 - July 2
WHAT: Multnomah County Board of Commission has proclaimed the week of June 26 as Oregon Health & Science University Center for Women's Health week.
"This is a wonderful acknowledgement of our efforts, and the care we provide to the women of Multnomah County and beyond," said Michelle Berlin, M.D., M.P.H., director of the OHSU Center of Excellence in Women's Health; associate professor, departments of obstetrics and gynecology, public health and preventive medicine, and medical informatics and clinical epidemiology.
