Support for Quitting
OHSU’s cessation support includes free coverage of three courses of prescription (Chantix or Zyban) and non-prescription (nicotine patches or lozenges) medications a year for employees and family members covered by PharmaCare.* When you enroll in the cessation support program, you will get help determining which medication is best for you.
All employees and students will be eligible for up to three courses of non-prescription medications through OHSU. Employees and students who are covered by Kaiser will be eligible for prescription medications through Kaiser; students covered by ODS will be eligible for prescription medications through ODS (see the Medication Access Chart).
OHSU employees, family members, students and volunteers can access medications in one of the following three ways:
- Contact the OHSU Employee Wellness Program at 503 494-WELL (9355) or visit: http://www.ohsu.edu/tobaccofreesupport to make an appointment with a Wellness coach. The Wellness coach will work with you to assess your needs, establish a treatment plan and coordinate access to medications. Coverage for medications will depend on your health plan (see the Medication Access Chart).
OR
- Contact the OHSU Pharmacy at 503 494-8563 or by e-mail at Rxfree@ohsu.edu. A trained pharmacist will meet with you to assess your needs, establish a treatment plan and fill your prescription. You may also stop by the OHSU Pharmacy in the Physicians Pavilion (Marquam Hill) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, to talk to a trained pharmacist. Coverage for medications will depend on your health plan (see the Medication Access Chart).
OR
- Talk to your personal physician for advice about quitting and a prescription for tobacco cessation medications. Coverage for prescription medications will depend on your health plan (see the Medication Access Chart).
Note: Access to free non-prescription medications is available only through the OHSU Wellness Program or the OHSU Pharmacy.
*PharmaCare is the prescription coverage for employees and their family members who have elected medical coverage through the OHSU PPO, Regence BCBSO 250 and Regence BCBSO 60/50 plans.
