The enduring power of people
It’s hard to imagine an Oregon institution with a mission more powerful than OHSU’s. There is so much to value – hope and healing for thousands of patients, the education of tomorrow’s health professionals, groundbreaking scientific advances. It’s frankly difficult to appreciate the full scope and complexity of all that happens at Oregon’s only academic health center.
It’s easy to appreciate amazing people, however. When someone at OHSU does something extraordinary to help someone we know, we pay attention. It reminds us that OHSU is full of people like that – people who create knowledge, stir passions, promote health, extend hope, and save lives.
There are other exceptional people at the heart of OHSU: donors and volunteers. Their confidence and commitment sustains much of what is accomplished on Marquam Hill. Their generosity helps make possible every achievement. This year and every year we heartily thank each individual who made a gift, or whose tireless advocacy sparked vital community support.
It is clear from the headlines that philanthropic contributions have never been more important to institutions, and OHSU is no exception. Challenging times come and go, but remarkable people remain. And what they accomplish together endures.
