Frequently Asked Questions

What are the various ways in which I can make my gift to the Employee Giving Campaign?

Gifts can be made in the following manners:

online through your payroll deduction pledge
online with a one-time gift by credit card
telephone 503 228-1730 for a credit card gift (both recurring and one-time)
checks made payable to OHSU Foundation or DCH Foundation

Is there an administrative fee?

No, neither the OHSU or Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundations charge an administrative fee on gifts. One hundred percent of your gift is directed to the priority of your choice.

How can I make more of an impact with my gift?

Pledging your support through payroll deduction allows you to make a larger gift than you would be able to make by writing a check.  For example: a pledge of $500 paid over the course of the year will amount to $20.84 deducted from your paycheck.

Other than feeling good about making a charitable gift, and getting a tax deduction, what is another way that I can personally benefit from my giving to OHSU?

If you have a credit card that rewards you for purchases, you can earn those rewards while making your charitable donations.  Call the OHSU Foundation Gift Entry department at 503 228-1730 to make your recurring credit card gift, or make a one-time credit card gift on the Foundation's website.

What if I want to direct my charitable dollars to a fund that isn’t on the pledge form?

Please visit the OHSU Foundation website (www.ohsufoundation.org) for additional giving opportunities.

Is my gift tax deductible?

All gifts made through the Employee Giving Campaign flow through the OHSU Foundation and/or the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation and are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law. For documentation, keep your pledge confirmation page and your W-2 for your year-end tax preparations.  Consult your tax professional for advice on your personal tax situation.

Will my payroll deduction be made on a pre-tax or post-tax basis?

Payroll deductions are made on a post-tax basis.

In the past, I pledged my support at a particular time of year; will that continue to be the case?

As of now, all employees can pledge their support of the campaign at any point in time during the year. In other words, you can choose when to start your payroll deductions, when to start making a monthly credit card gift, when to write a check.

Why can’t I find the community partners on the website?

The community partners are no longer part of the OHSU Employee Giving Campaign. All monies raised through the Employee Giving Campaign will be directed to priorities at OHSU.
