School of Medicine Giving Societies
1887 Society
The 1887 Society recognizes donors of unrestricted gifts of $1,000 or more to the School of Medicine. Unrestricted gifts provide Dean Mark Richardson with the flexibility to address the most pressing needs of the School. Uses of these vital dollars may include teaching technology enhancement, faculty recruitment and retention, and student financial aid.
While the principal benefit of membership in the 1887 Society is the satisfaction inherent in helping the School of Medicine sustain excellence in education, the School seeks to acknowledge your commitment in special ways:
- Your name included on the unique 1887 Society plaque at the School
- Invitation to our annual 1887 Society event in Portland
- An 1887 Society lapel pin to wear with pride
- A unique crystal paperweight upon joining and an annual renewal recognition item
- A handsome membership certificate and membership card
- Invitation to a regional reception in your area to meet the dean of the School of Medicine
- Inclusion on the OHSU special events mailing list
- OHSU campus visitor parking pass (two per year)
- VIP seating at School of Medicine Events
The IRS requires that the value of certain recognition items provided to members of the 1887 Society be deducted from their gift receipt.
