Who Should Apply?

Anyone in the health care, academic or research field, those interested in cancer research, and/or those who are in a position to implement cancer research or intervention programs in a Native community. Priority will be given to applicants with a Masters degree or higher, although outstanding applicants with Bachelor’s degrees will also be considered. Applications from American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, American Samoans and other U.S. associated Pacific-Islanders are encouraged.


Application requirements include:

- Application form

- Letter of interest and commitment from applicant
This letter should describe the applicant’s interest in cancer research and commitment to attend the full three weeks of training.

- Letter of support from Tribe or Native community
This letter should support the applicant’s application as well as describe the applicant’s relationship to his or her community.

- Letter of support from employer
This letter should state that the applicant has his or her employer’s permission to attend all three weeks of the Native Researchers’ Cancer Control Training Program.

- CV/resumé
