Many scientific issues are hotly debated based on differing assessments of the available data and colored by particular biases.
We will use a debate format to argue the Affirmative and Negative of two student-selected topics. The debate will include a 10
minute evidence-based presentations by the Affirmative team and the Negative team, followed by a general discussion. The group
will then decide the "winners" The Course Director will rule in case of a tie vote!. The chosen topics stated in the Affirmative are:
- Undirected basic science is the best way to cure neurological diseases.
- There is a common molecular pathway underlying all addictions.
