Description: This session will explore the role of astrocytes and oxidative injury in neurodegeneration and consider the specific issue of SOD and ALS.
Study questions:
  1. How are oxidants produced in neurons and glia?
  2. What natural mechanisms limit the general of free radicals?
  3. Discuss the mechanisms by which SOD1 mutations are thought to cause ALS.
