TERWILLIGER TRAIL QUESTIONS
Which type of stair route do you favor ?
Short and steep
Slightly longer, but with a more gradual slope
Comments:
The location and safety of the pedestrian crossing of Terwilliger Blvd. may be the most critical factor in selecting a route alternative.
Choose the alternate you would support.
Alignment “A” - Southerly alignment -
This crossing location is close to the curve on Terwilliger. Portland Dept. of Transportation does not favor this location because of limited sight distance causing an un-safe condition. If a crossing were even to be allowed at this location, it would require additional signage and possible warning lights installed along Terwilliger. There is a low probability of getting a crossing approved at this location.
Alignment “B” - Northerly alignment –
This crossing location is in the middle of the straight stretch on Terwilliger Blvd. midway between the two curves. The Portland Dept. of Transportation favors this location and feels it has adequate sight distance to make it a safe crossing.
Comments:
Lighting – If lighting is incorporated into the stair route, it is anticipated it will be low level lights, probably built into the railing. Which of the following is your preference on lighting of the stair route?
No lighting -
I feel it would be used primarily during the day and I don’t want to see lights from the Terwilliger Blvd. corridor.
Include lighting –
I feel the stair route will get substantial use during night time hours and that the use will be high enough to justify adding lights.
Comments:
Start Point - Since people’s alignment preference for the crossing may be impacted by their travel origin and destination, please tell us your most common origin point:
