| SHANNON MACMILLAN, OF THE '99 WOMEN'S WORLD CUP CHAMPION SOCCER TEAM, VISITS OHSU
| Who: | Shannon MacMillan, World Cup soccer player, will speak to Oregon Health Sciences University staff about the importance of teamwork on Thursday, Oct. 21. She will be emphasizing the successful role that teamwork played in the U.S. Women's Soccer Team's World Cup win.
MacMillan plays the midfield position for the U.S. Women's Soccer Team that won the 1999 Women's World Cup. She is also a member the U.S. Women's National Team that won a gold medal at the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. |
| What: | Her visit is part of the OHSU's annual Service Excellence Week. The week is designed to recognize OHSU employees for their dedication to patients and their commitment to patient care.
In addition, MacMillan is using her speaking fee from OHSU's event to purchase gifts that she will donate to patients at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Following her lecture, she will hand deliver more than 80 gifts to Doernbecher patients as she goes room to room. MacMillan has requested no media coverage of her visits in children's rooms at Doernbecher, but can be photographed in the lobby with the gifts, prior to delivery. |
