Priya Chaudhary, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Neurology

Dr. Chaudhary’s research is focused on understanding neuronal dysfunction which is implicated in many neurological disorders like multiple sclerosis. She is part of a team investigating molecular and cellular processes in manifesting multiple sclerosis with the ultimate goal of developing new treatment options for MS patients. She is also co-investigator on a VA Merit Review grant studying lipoic acid therapy in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, which models multiple sclerosis.

Her other recent and ongoing projects have dealt with discerning neuroprotection in the retinal ganglion cells, mechanisms involved in neuronal excitability in trigeminal ganglion, and gene expression changes in the dorsal root ganglia after diabetes.

Dr. Chaudhary received her Ph.D. in Biotechnology from the University of Pune, India and has completed post-doctoral research fellowship at New York Medical College. She joined OHSU in 1999 and received the prestigious NIH funded NRSA grant in 2000. She joined the Department of Neurology as Assistant Professor in 2004. She is an active member of the Society for Neuroscience. She has numerous first author publications to her credit and has also written book chapters.
