Ihab M. Wahba, M.D.

Dr. Wahba is a graduate of the OHSU Nephrology Fellowship Program and was appointed as an Instructor of Medicine in Nephrology July 1, 1999. He was promoted to Assistant Professor of Medicine in March 2001. He received a National Kidney Foundation research fellowship award in 1998. During his training, his research focus was the mechanisms of immunosuppressive nephrotoxicity and cell death as it relates to the renin-angiotensin system.
Dr. Wahba’s current focus is clinical nephrology, teaching, and clinical research. He has a particular interest in bedside teaching and using physical examination skills in clinical problem solving in nephrology. He received the house staff teaching award in 2003. His clinical research interests include vascular access related complications including infection and dysfunction, acute renal failure, obesity-related renal dysfunction, and metabolic bone disease in dialysis-treated patients.
