Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program:

Bronchiectasis, Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, and Lymphangioleiomyomatoses:

This program offers consultation on suspected diagnoses and management of alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency including discussion and arranging augmentation therapy. Consultation regarding bronchiectasis and lymphangioleiomyomatoses (LAM) is also provided. The clinic programs dovetails with clinical research projects and multicenter patient educational forums in each of those diseases.


Bronchoscopy and Other Interventional Procedures:

Comprehensive diagnostic bronchoscopy services are available for ambulatory and hospitalized patients. Bronchoscopy with bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), endobronchial brush biopsies, transbronchial biopsies, and transbronchial needle aspiration is available. Interventional procedures are coordinated with the Otolaryngology Division (endobronchial laser and tumor rebulking) and Interventional Radiology Division (endobronchial stenting). Services are coordinated through the General Pulmonary Disorders Clinic.


General Pulmonary Disorders Clinic:

The general pulmonary clinic provides diagnoses and management of all general disorders of the respiratory system. Conditions may include shortness of breath, lung cancer, pneumonia and other lung infections, emphysema, COPD, asthma, sleep disorders related to breathing disturbances, occupational lung disease, liver-related lung disease and drug-related pulmonary disorders. This clinic also offers pulmonary function testing, smoking cessation counseling and clinical research.


Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT):

The OHSU Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia Center of Excellence is a multidisciplinary center devoted to the evaluation and treatment of patients with Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). The OHSU HHT Center includes physicians who are among the most experienced in evaluating and treating patients with HHT and is one of a group of specialized centers that have been established with the support of the HHT Foundation, International. HHT patients in the Pacific Northwest and other regions of the Western United States can enjoy immediate access to a comprehensive HHT care center. The Center has special interest and expertise in the evaluation and management of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs). Interstitial Lung Disease Program:

This clinic focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of interstitial lung diseases including pulmonary fibrosis, usual interstitial fibrosis, connective tissue-related lung disease, rheumatoid lung, scleroderma lung, systemic lupus erythematosis related lung disease, sarcoidosis, bronchiolitis obliterans, BOOP, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Patients will receive information regarding the latest medical treatment and ongoing clinical research trials, as well as discussion of lung transplantation.

Pulmonary Function and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing:

Established Pulmonary Clinic Patients: 503-494-1620

The hospital pulmonary function laboratory offers comprehensive testing including spirometry, lung volumes (gas distribution and plethysmography), diffusion capacity, bronchoprovocation (methacholine), respiratory pressure measurement, 6-minute walk testing, and physiologic cardiopulmonary exercise. Indications for testing include suspected asthma, unexplained dyspnea, emphysema, COPD, occupational lung disorders, neuromuscular disease, chronic cough, pulmonary vascular disease, pulmonary fibrotic disorders, and interstitial lung diseases. A satellite laboratory in the Physician’s Pavillion is currently offering spirometry and walk testing and will be expanding services in the coming months.


Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Program:

This clinic focuses on the evaluation and treatment of pulmonary hypertension of all etiologies. Patients will receive information regarding the latest medical treatment and ongoing research trials.


Sleep Disorders Medicine Program:

This program utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate and treat a wide range of sleep-related disorders in children, teenagers and adults. We offer care and support to patients suffering from conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome and insomnia. Our team incorporates the expertise from the divisions of pulmonary medicine, neurology and psychiatry. Our comprehensive program offers evaluation, testing, and treatment services, as well as a multi-bed sleep laboratory serving both adults and children.
