The OHSU M.D.-Ph.D. Program invites applications from individuals wishing to pursue
careers as physician-scientists. Applicants should have a strong academic record,
solid performance on the MCAT, prior research experience, outstanding letters of
reference, and evidence of a firm commitment to a career in science and medicine.
The Graduate Record Examination is not required.
Applicants also should have demonstrated leadership qualities through activities and
interests that are outside of the laboratory and classroom, and have shown a clear
commitment to medicine through volunteer activities. Although most individuals enter
the M.D.-Ph.D. program as first year students, applications will be considered from
students currently in their first or second year at the OHSU School of Medicine.
OHSU participates in the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). Applicants
must complete the OHSU Secondary Application and a separate M.D.-Ph.D. Addendum. The
M.D.-Ph.D. committee screens all applications and invites selected individuals to interview.
Interviews are conducted from November through February and are coordinated with the medical
school admissions committee. Offers of admission are made on a rolling basis.
OHSU encourages all applicants for admission and does not discriminate on the basis of race,
religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, veteran's status or disability.
