MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Employed as Senior Reference & Instruction Librarian and serving as Librarian for the OHSU Evidence-Based Practice Center (EPC). Responsibilities and activities include:

  • Identifying databases and creating and updating database search strategies in support of OHSU EPC projects.
  • Providing individualized bibliographic instruction to OHSU staff and students pertaining to the effective on and off campus use of library resources.
  • Presenting orientations for new students, residents and interns.
  • Staffing the Library Information Desk and assisting patrons with the in-house use of OHSU library resources.
  • Teaching courses to OHSU staff and students on database searching.
  • Developing new classes and instructional materials for OHSU students and staff.
  • Serving as Library Liaison for Oregon State University students at OHSU serving clinical clerkship rotations for their PharmD. Degrees.
  • Assisting with maintenance and collection development of Reference resources.
  • Coordinating thesis binding for Schools of Nursing, Medicine, and Dentistry graduates.

National Training Center & Clearinghouse, NN/LM Middle Atlantic Region, New York Academy of Medicine, New York, NY September 1996 to November 2002
Employed as an Online Analyst. Responsibilities and activities include: Teaching Advanced and Introductory level classes across the US on the use of PubMed, NLM gateway, MeSH, Clinicaltrials.gov, and TOXNET; Testing and evaluating new WWW-based interfaces for the NLM products and services; Developing & updating instructional material in collaboration with NLM Staff using Word, Pagemaker, Powerpoint, Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro; Attending training courses in Dreamweaver 4, Flash 5, & Windows 2000; Contacting host sites for NTCC training classes and coordinating with their administrators to set up yearly NTCC Schedules of classes; Arranging air, rail and lodging accommodations; Providing specialized presentations for Pharmaceutical Corporations and Professional Organizations; Creating and maintaining content for Pharmaceutical, Vaccination, and Genetics Pages for NOAH (New York Online Access to Health) consumer health web site; Writing articles for RML newsletter; Supplying individualized instruction via phone and email on effective strategies for specific inquires; Consulting with NYAM reference staff on patron requests.

Employed as a Clinical Medicine Information Specialist. Responsibilities and activities included: Providing walk-in patrons with traditional reference service and individualized bibliographic instruction in use of Innovative interfaces OPAC, Grateful Med, & Web browsers; Answering telephone reference requests; Providing Fellows of the Academy and Corporate Subscribers with fee-based in-depth research service; Performing online bibliographic database searches in Dialog, Ovid, and MEDLARS systems; Selecting material for acquisition; Troubleshooting public workstations and printers; Planning & coordinating student outreach teaching programs to local high school and colleges; Designing and implementing the library instruction phase of the Academy's Junior Fellow Program.

St. John's University, Jamaica, NY - September 1990 to January 1993.
Worked as a graduate assistant in the Department of Library & Information Sciences. Responsibilities and activities included: managing the departmental microcomputer lab; Supervising the computer lab duties of six graduate assistants; Troubleshooting microcomputers & peripheral equipment; Installing & updating software on laboratory and office microcomputers; Tutoring students in online database searching.
