Paying online
Before you pay
If you are not sure you agree with the charges, or if you have questions, please consult a staff member BEFORE you pay.For assistance, contact the Circulation Desk at 503.494.3460 and ask to talk to a staff person during the following hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
- Friday: 7:30 a.m.– 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m.– 5 p.m.
- Sunday: 1 p.m.–10 p.m.
Paying fines and charges
- Log in to your patron record. In the "Account details" section, click on the "unpaid fines and bills" link to get to your list of fines and charges.
- Click "Pay Online." A pop-up window will open with your charges.
- If you want to make a partial payment, uncheck the fines or charges you don't want to pay and click "Recalculate Total Payment."
- Enter your personal information, credit card number, and expiration date. Required fields are marked with an asterisk*.
- Click "Submit." A confirmation page will appear. Check the information on this page. If everything is correct, click "Submit." If the information is incorrect, click "Cancel," and you will be able to re-enter your information.
- A payment receipt will appear. Print a copy of the receipt for your records.
- If you have a remaining balance, you can view your new balance by clicking "Refresh fines."
Troubleshooting
- Nothing happens when I click on the "Pay Online" button.
- Your browser may have JavaScript disabled. In Internet Explorer, in the Tools menu, choose Internet Options, then Security, and make sure that Active Scripting is Enabled. In Firefox, under the Tools menu, choose Options, then Content, and make sure the Enable JavaScript box is checked.
WHAT DOES THIS MESSAGE MEAN?
- "A checked-out item could not be removed from your record (someone else is updating it) please see librarian for assistance."
- This means that the item you are trying to pay for is being updated. Please try to pay for this charge again later.
- "Not signed up for this tender type"
- You have entered a card type that the library does not accept at this time. OHSU Library accepts only Visa and Mastercard.
- "There is a problem with your patron record - payment not made - please see librarian for assistance."
- Please contact the library to update your record.
- "Please double-check the entered information."
- You have either entered the required information incorrectly (i.e. Credit Cards with spaces or dashes) or have left one or more of the required fields blank.
- "Sorry your payment has been declined."
- This means your credit card was declined. Please confirm your information is entered correctly or contact your credit card company.
- "Transaction was denied"
- If you attempt multiple times to make an online payment and the transaction is rejected for any reason (including errors in account or address information), the bank will post an authorization charge to your account for the charges you tried to pay. This charge is not a final transaction but rather a pending transaction. Please contact your bank for more information.

- Is there a transaction fee?
- The library does not charge a transaction fee.
- Is there a minimum amount required?
- There is no minimum payment amount required at this time.
- Can I pay part of a fine on an item?
- Individual charges must be paid in full, but you can pay selected charges listed on your account. Uncheck the fines/charges you don't want to pay and click "Recalculate Total Payment".
- What credit cards do you accept?
- OHSU Library accepts Visa and Mastercard.
- Is my payment secure?
- Yes. We use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, a standard supported by most major Internet browsers. All of your personal and card details are protected.
