INFORMATION SERVICES FOR OHSU PATIENTS AND THE COMMUNITY

Consumer Health Resources
Established in 1996 as a service of OHSU's BICC/Medical Libraries, the Center administers the OHSU/Hood River Community Health Outreach Project, Health Information by Mail or E-mail, training and consultation for providers in electronic patient education resources, and other consumer health information services for OHSU patients and the community.

Doernbecher Family Resource Center
The Family Resource Center was established to support the partnership of parents, children, and health care providers in family-centered care by providing information and services.

OHSU/Hood River Community Health Outreach Project
The OHSU/Hood River Community Health Outreach Project is funded by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine/Pacific Northwest Region. The goal of the project is to train health professionals working with underserved and minority populations to access electronic sources of patient education materials. The advent of electronic technologies, especially the World Wide Web, provides new sources of excellent materials available readily at a reasonable cost.

Health Information by Mail or E-mail Request
Oregon Health & Science University Health Information by Mail or E-mail service delivers health care information to your home by mail or email. We have access to summaries and current articles on over 6,000 medical and health topics.

Center for Women's Health
The Center for Women's Health at OHSU is a university-wide Center that integrates multidisciplinary clinical care services, state-of-the-art biomedical research and consumer educational services to create a comprehensive and coordinated approach to women's health care. The Center focuses on all phases of a woman's life, from adolescence through the reproductive and postmenopausal years into old age.

PATIENT EDUCATION SUPPORT SERVICES FOR OHSU CLINICIANS

Training and Consultation
Provides opportunities for training and consulation in use of electronic patient education resources for OHSU clinicians and staff.

OHSU Translation and Interpreter Services
Provides medical interpretation and translation for patient care, assisting both patients and staff. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a language base of twenty three different languages.

OHSU Nursing Education Office
Provides assistance to OHSU clinicians and departments who have developed their own patient education materials.
