OHSLA Scholarship Information for PNC/MLA

PROFESSIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Oregon Health Sciences Libraries Association (OHSLA) Library Professional Scholarship is designed to encourage librarian participation in the PNC/MLA Annual Chapter meeting. The aim of the fund is to equalize opportunities for attendance at programs and courses which improve professional development for Oregon or SW Washington librarians.

All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria. The applications will be reviewed by members of the OHSLA Executive Board, and all applicants will be notified of the Board's decisions.

This scholarship covers regular meeting registration for a PNC Member, at the All-Inclusive rate of $250.00 plus up to $350.00 for travel expenses (parking, transportation or lodging) or continuing education sessions at the meeting. The total amount of this scholarship will not exceed $600.00.

NOTE: Funds are generally reimbursed/disbursed to recipients after attendance at the meeting. One scholarship will be awarded.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Applicant must be a current OHSLA member, or register to become a member of OHSLA before the PNC/MLA meeting (individual membership cost = $25).
  2. Applicant must be a resident of the state of Oregon or SW Washington.
  3. The written application information (see below) must be submitted by September 23, 2009.

Factors to be considered in awarding of the scholarship:

  1. Distance to be traveled to event
  2. Availability/non-availability of other programs in the immediate area.
  3. How attendance will benefit the professional's learning experience.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

The Oregon Health Sciences Libraries Association (OHSLA) Student Scholarship is designed to encourage students' participation in the PNC/MLA Annual Chapter meeting. The aim of the fund is to improve access for future medical librarians in Oregon/ SW Washington and to equalize opportunities for attendance at events which improve the library student's development.

All applicants must meet the eligibility criteria. The applications will be reviewed by designated members of the OHSLA Executive Board, and all applicants will be notified of the Board's decisions.

This scholarship covers regular meeting registration at the student rate of $100.00 plus up to $350.00 for travel expenses (parking, transportation or lodging) or continuing education sessions at the meeting. The total amount of this scholarship will not exceed $450.00.

NOTE: Funds are generally reimbursed/disbursed to recipients after attendance at the meeting. One student scholarship will be awarded.

Eligibility Criteria:
  1. Applicant must be a current student at an accredited library school.
  2. Applicant must be a current OHSLA member, or register to become a member of OHSLA member before the PNC/MLA meeting (cost = $10).
  3. Applicant must be a resident of the state of Oregon or SW Washington.
  4. The written application information (see below) must be submitted by September 23, 2009.
