St. Vincent Past-Chair Cindy Muller opened the OHSLA business
meeting at
9:40 a.m., in the absence of Chair Michael Hurley. Minutes: There were no minutes from the last meeting to
approve. Announcements: Cindy Muller announced the new Board members: Rose
Jackson, Treasurer and Madelyn Hall, Secretary. Old
Business:
President
– Elect: Cindy stated that no OHSLA member had come forth to
volunteer for the President-Elect position, and she did not know what
further
action to take. Names of OHSLA members to contact were provided by the
members
present; Cindy will contact Andrew Hamilton from OHSU, and/or Beverly
Schriver
from Sacred Heart in Eugene, to see if either would be willing to accept
the
President-Elect position. By-Laws: Dolores Judkins and Melisssa Horner are working on
these at
present. The issue will be re-visited at the OHSLA Business meeting in
July. Support
staff: Meredith Solomon offered the assistance of the OHSLA
Support
staff during the October 2005 PNC/MLA meeting in Portland. The membership
discussed using this group for help at the Registration Desk, hospitality,
and
stuffing envelopes and/or goodie bags. Ann von Segen, Co-Chair for the
PNC/MLA
meeting, acknowledged the group’s willingness to help, and will discuss it
further with her committee. Health
Reference Triage Class: Judith Hayes sent a report about the class: “Dolores Judkins and Patrice O’Donovan
team
taught a class in December at the coast to the Reference Roundtable
(OLA)…Rick
Severson of the Naturopathic College is working on the Alternative and
Complementary Medicine module, because we have been asked to present this
at a
2 hour class at Oregon Libraries Association on April 8 in Portland. I
will be
teaching and I would be really happy to have someone help me teach
it. Bev Schriver and Melissa Horner are
going to
work on some evaluation elements to go with Rick’s work…I have a short
list of
9-10 medical librarians from around the state that have indicated an
interest
in helping to teach…let me know if you want to join in.” New
Business: Silver
Falls: Silver Falls will be held July
21st-22nd.
Pat Wagner from Denver, will present “Time, Money and Project Management
for
Librarians.” The class will be
offered
to other library organizations (e.g., SLA, OLA), so Cindy and/or Michael
will
look into the possibility of getting a larger room to accommodate everyone
comfortably. Silver Falls personnel announced a very slight increase
in lodging and food rates. The date for OHSLA’s Silver Falls meeting in 2006 will
be July 13-14, one week earlier Stationery: It was decided by the members present to use the new
logo
that was designed for OHSLA. OHSLA
sponsorship of free registration: As Registration Chair for PNC/MLA October 2005 meeting,
Rose
Jackson asked if OHSLA members would be interested in sponsoring a free
registration for a member of
PNC. Ann von Segen suggested that the
request
first go to the PNC/MLA Planning Committee for approval, and OHSLA members
agreed. Rose will suggest the idea at the 3.10.05 meeting. Other
new business: Rose Jackson announced that OHSLA sent flowers to Karen
Lippert, OHSU, in celebration of her new baby. The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 a.m. |
