WHAT-

Books, copies of journal articles, audiovisuals, slides, dissertations, government documents, CD ROMs and other materials not owned by the OHSU Library can be obtained from other libraries or commercial document delivery services through the Interlibrary Loan program.

WHO-

Interlibrary Loan Service is primarily for OHSU faculty, staff and students. Interlibrary loans for OHSU personnel are given priority over those for non-OHSU requestors.

HOW-

Order materials electronically by using the ordering option within the Ovid databases or by registering for an ILL Express account. Click on the "First Time Users" link and "Add Account" information for billing. Exit to the Main Menu to order documents.

Phone requests are accepted only in the case of clinical emergencies.

WHEN-

Materials held locally or requested from document delivery services can often be obtained overnight or in a few days. Articles requested from PORTALS Libraries are delivered via Ariel via the Internet and usually arrive within 48 hours. However, it may take 1-2 weeks or longer to obtain books or journal articles from other libraries.

Factors influencing the length of time it takes to fill a request are: completeness and accuracy of the information provided by the requestor, location and availability of the materials, and turnaround time and shipping method of the lending library.

Use of FAX and Federal Express can greatly reduce the time required to obtain materials, often allowing same-day or overnight service. Please let the Interlibrary Loan Department know if you have special time requirements for obtaining materials. Priority is given to requests rela- ted to clinical emergencies or patient care.

Document Delivery requests that are not submitted through ILL Express will be charged a special handling fee of $3.00. The OHSU Library charges $10.00 to process RUSH requests.

Requestors may charge to an OHSU account alias (FAID required), OHSU deposit account or Visa/MasterCard. The Library is unable to process Visa/Mastercard transactions for less than $5.

HOURS-
