How To: Download from Ovid to Import into Bibliographic Management Software (Endnote, Reference Manager, Papyrus, Procite)

  1. Do your search.
  2. Select Citation+Abstract+Subject Headings in the Fields column of the Citation Manager box.
  3. Select either Reprint/Medlars or Direct Export in the Citation Format column of the Citation Manager box.
  4. Click on the Save button in the Action column of the Citation Manager box.
This allows the bibliographic management software to sort the fields properly and provides standard MeSH subject headings should you need to search on them.

Which format to choose:

Reprint Medlars
Citations are saved to a file on the user's computer. Then the user opens the bibliographic management program and instructs it to import the citations.
Direct Export
Citations are saved directly into a file in the bibliographic management program. This streamlines the process, eliminating the import step.

Direct Export is compatible with EndNote 4, ProCite 5/4/3 and Reference Manager 9/8/7, though some versions may require installation of a plug-in or require users to download additional filter files. More information on using Direct Export is available at www.isiresearchsoft.com
