The origin of the Pacific Northwest Archives, as a separate collection,
is obscure. Some of the books in this collection were acquired during the
1920s, but most were acquired starting in the 1930s. The collection
contains talks to the Medical History Club of the Medical School during
the 1920s, 1930s and early 1940s, catalogs and other publications of the
University from its earliest years to the present, annual reports of the
Medical Research Foundation of Oregon, and hundreds of other local
historical documents that are in book form (as opposed to photographs
and correspondence and other manuscripts). The collection is located in
the History of Medicine room.
