On Friday, February 4, William Hersh, M.D., will discuss electronic health records as a guest on National Public Radio's weekly, nationally-syndicated science program, "Science Friday."
His interview will air at noon pacific time on Oregon Public Radio, 91.5 FM. Hersh is professor and chairman of medical informatics and clinical epidemiology in the OHSU School of Medicine.
A widely-published national medical informatics expert, Hersh's most recent article was an editorial in the Nov. 10, 2004, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). In the article, Hersh said that the need for information technology in health care settings has become universally accepted; however, resources for investment are still limited and not enough data is accessible or workable from one health care setting to the next.
