Donating to the Heart Research Center

Heart Disease: Equal-Opportunity Killer

Heart disease is the number-one killer of men and women, taking nearly twice as many lives per year as cancer-and nearly as many as the seven following causes combined.

Why Research is Important

Have you ever undergone surgery? Taken medication for allergies? Been vaccinated against childhood diseases? If so, you've benefitted from research. Simply put, every single piece of medical knowledge we have has been a result of research - including animal research. It's not limited to what we think of as "major medical breakthroughs"-revolutionary cancer treatments or mapping the human genome. Research is behind every checkup, every prescription, and, yes, every life-saving surgery humans undergo.
