Medication Checklist

I was my mother's primary caregiver when she had cancer. My brother and sister-in-law also spent some time with her. We found that it was hard dealing with all her medicines. When one of us would relieve the other we'd sometimes forget to check to see if she'd had her pills, and Mom wasn't always able to tell us what she'd taken and when.

One day I figured out that I could make a spreadsheet with all her medication information on it.

  • I listed all the pills with dosage and when she was to take each one.
  • I then made that into a weekly check list.
  • I put the check list right by all her medicines.
  • Whenever one of us gave her something we'd check the dose off.

This worked really well and made dealing with medicines so much easier for Mom and for all of us.
