My Doernbecher Story

Kevin's Story - Doernbecher Children's Hospital

Kevin's Story

In 1985 I was diagnosed with a Wilm's tumor. My right kidney had to be completly removed. I was only 10 years old and very scared. Back then Doernbecker was very different but still had great staff who were there for their patients. I attended school programs while hospitalized to keep me from falling behind. I attended a Christmas concert they hosted with Johny Limbo and the Lugnuts. I have to say because of Doernbecker these terrible memories were balanced out by everything they do for their patients and the people they have as their staff. I am 37 years old now, (2012) and have had no reoccurances of cancer. I am a pro athlete and published author of fiction and I can't thank Doernbecker enough. There is always hope.
