Ambient Experience suite
OHSU is the first hospital in the region to offer a 256-slice CT scan, which provides the most detailed and accurate image of the heart, arteries and vessels for detection of heart damage or disease. Because 256-slice equipment works exceptionally fast, the scanning experience is easier and more comfortable for patients. The process is less stressful than that of previous scanning processes, reducing the need for sedation. Even children remain relaxed and calm during imaging thanks to the OHSU Ambient Experience suite where child-friendly pictures and sounds, such as underwater scenes and cartoon characters, are projected throughout the room during the scan process.


OHSU is also one of only a few hospitals in the country to offer myocardial contrast echocardiography to quickly and accurately detect decreased blood flow in arteries. The microbubbles in this test provide a detailed, real-time ultrasound of the heart – something that is difficult to do with traditional EKGs. We also have an open MRI , as well as echocardiograms and nuclear imaging to give our cardiologists everything they need to identify potential problems with your heart.
