Biography
David Gostnell, Ph.D. has been a clinical assistant professor in the Departments of Neurological Surgery and Medical Psychology since 1992. He consults with neurosurgeons and other physicians in chronic pain management and other chronic medical conditions, and performs pre-surgical psychological assessments.
As a neuropsychologist, he assesses and treats patients with neurological disorders at OHSU, in his private practice, and as a consultant to Kaiser Permanente.
Dr. Gostnell has a doctorate in experimental psychology (physiological and cognitive) from the University of Oregon. After ten years in academic settings (Grand Valley State College and Pacific University) he returned to the University of Oregon for clinical studies, followed by an internship at the Portland VA Medical Center (medical and geriatric psychology) and a residency in neurorehabilitation at Salem Hospital. Before joining OHSU, Dr. Gostnell held clinical staff positions in neurorehabilitation programs at Salem Hospital, Emanuel Hospital, Oregon Rehabilitation Institute, and the Northwest Occupational Medicine Center.
