OHSU is one of only a handful of hospitals around the country using microbubble technology to instantly detect heart attacks. Most hospitals rely only EKGs and blood tests. However, EKGs don't detect up to 50% of heart attacks and blood tests take hours for the results to become available. The longer a heart attack goes untreated, the more serious the damage to the heart. That's why every patient who comes to OHSU with undiagnosed chest pain receives microbubble echocardiography.
