The
OHSU Gene Microarray Shared Resource (GMSR) is a centralized facility
providing RNA expression profiling services to OHSU researchers.
It consists of two core units: Affymetrix
Microarray Core (AMC) and the HEDCO/OCI Spotted
Microarray Core (SMC). The AMC provides services using
commercial Affymetrix GeneChip® technology for
expression analysis. The SMC generates arrays by microspotting. Both AMC and SMC are located in the GMSR laboratory
in the Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute on OHSU's West Campus
in Beaverton. Bioinformatics & Biostatistics Support is now provided through the Biostatistics & Bioinformatics Shared Resource of the Center for Biostatistics Computing & Informatics in Biology and Medicine
The
Presidential Advisory Committee on Functional Genomics provides oversight
of the GMSR cores and their activities.

The advisory committee provides administrative
and budgetary oversight to the GMSR and reports to the president
and dean of the school of medicine to advise them on progress, quality
of services, productivity, cost effectiveness, utilization patterns,
new discoveries, and ongoing resource requirements of the OHSU GMSR.
While the advisory committee members, GMSR director, and the core
managers will aggressively seek opportunities for extramural support
for the GMSR, other OHSU faculty members are strongly encouraged
to do the same.
