- Biosketch:
- My focus for nearly 30 years has been the broad field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. My expertise has been nationally recognized and I have sat on the editorial boards of Gastroenterology (1977-1982) and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (1983-1988 and 1996-2000). I have been appointed to various national committees of the ASGE including standards of practice, technology assessment and program selection committee.
My endoscopic research has included important contributions in areas such as upper and lower GI bleeding, complications of endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, ERCP (biliary and pancreatic endoscopy), esophageal expandable stents, ultrathin endoscopy, small bowel enteroscopy and variable stiffness colonoscopy.
The endoscopy unit at OHSU, under my direction provides state of the art techniques utilizing the most current videoendoscopic equipment available.
