OHSU Center for Ethics in Health Care Associate Director Criteria
The Center's Associate Directors, together with the Director, comprise the Executive Group. Associate Directors assume high level oversight roles in directing key missions of the Center and directing the Center as an operating unit within OHSU. Associate Directors are authorized to represent the Center and to speak on behalf of the Center. Individually and collaboratively, they make major contributions to the growth, vision, and strategic planning of the entire Center.
Associate Directors are invited and appointed by the existing Executive Group. They must have a primary appointment at OHSU. In selecting individuals to become Associate Directors, the Executive Group will ensure that this level of leadership within the Center is representative of OHSU's mission areas, the leaders have appropriate and demonstrated expertise, and the prevalent disciplines at OHSU are represented. The Executive Group will evaluate potential Associate Directors according to the following criteria:
1. Representation of an OHSU mission area
a. Education
b. Patient care
c. Research
d. Community outreach
2. Demonstrated Expertise
a. Formal education or certification in ethics
b. Experience in an ethics-related field or activity
c. Scholarly activity
d. Fund raising
3. Discipline Representation
a. Medicine
b. Nursing
c. Dentistry
d. Social work
e. Health care administration
f. Public health
g. Ministry
h. Allied health care field
i. Other related health care ethics discipline
