NC Program: Duties and Requirements
There are two levels of NC (Network Contact
1 & 2), with different duties and
requirements. NC Program Duties
Network Contact 1
The Network Contact 1 (NC 1) assignment will
be reserved for NCs with little or no computing
knowledge and whose administrator requires that
they have the least possible involvement.
Responsibilities include:
- Single point of contact (SPOC) for submission
of network projects and problems
- Coordination between ITG and their Department
for completion of projects
- Other communications with ITG
- The NC 1 will attend the monthly NC meeting(s)
- Responsibilities at this level will not
include any troubleshooting of problems
- These NC duties may fall within an existing
position description as "other duties
as assigned".
Network Contact 2 The Network Contact 2 (NC 2) responsibilities
include all those listed for NC 1, as well as
basic computer troubleshooting.
Responsibilities include:
- Basic computer troubleshooting
- Single point of contact (SPOC) for problems
called into the ITG HelpDesk
- Maintenance and support of any Departmental
Applications as outlined in the NC Responsibilities
and Procedures Manual
- Basic knowledge of all Current Core Applications
that are used by your department (See Benefits for
information on discounted computer training).
NC Requirements
In order to become a Network
Contact, the following conditions need to be
met:
- One NC is allowed per 15-20 Users (this includes
one backup NC)
- The designated NC needs to be a Permanent
Employee of OHSU (Temporary Employees/Students
are not eligible)
- Department’s computer systems are
part of OHSU Network
- Required Training--See Required NC Training
Chart below:
1 - At least one of these classes must be completed,
based on the support needs in the department.
NC needs to demonstrate a basic knowledge of
the operating system per the evaluation skills
test.
2 - Core Services represent the current applications
licensed to OHSU having network support. NC 2's
can take Module 1 only at at a reduced rate.
Additional modules are at listed price.
3 - These are required only if directly applicable
to the department.
