 Balloon Dilation of Sinuses

Balloon Sinuplasty technology is an endoscopic, catheter-based system for patients suffering from sinusitis. The technology uses a small, flexible, balloon catheter to open up blocked sinus passageways. When the sinus balloon is inflated, it attempts to restructure and widen the walls of the passageway while attempting to maintain the integrity of the sinus lining.

This is a new technology and there are studies underway to help sinus surgeons understand its most appropriate place in the realm of sinus surgery. An experienced sinus surgeon can evaluate your sinuses and CT scan to determine whether you might be a candidate for such technology as a part of the management of your sinusitis.
