Tamer A. Ghanem, MD
Microvascular Fellow

Dr. Ghanem completed his Bachelor’s in Science Degree at the University of Utah with a Major in Chemistry and a Minor in Mathematics, in 1993. He went on to graduate school at the University of Utah Biomedical Engineering Department, where he earned a Ph.D. degree, prior to starting medical school. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 2002. He completed his Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery residency training at the University of Virginia in 2007. He is currently in a one-year head and neck microvascular/ reconstructive fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Mark Wax at Oregon Health and Science University. His clinical interests are in head and neck oncology, facial reanimation, local flaps, and free tissue transfer. He is currently involved in various clinical studies relating to free tissue transfer in head and neck reconstruction. In addition, he is involved in basic science research studying the effect of wound irradiation and healing of microvascular free flaps in a rat animal model.
